St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities Wins Leadership Award
for Best Community Web Site

HOUSTON - New York-based publication eHealthcare Strategy & Trends has honored St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities for providing outstanding and innovative service to the community through its web site, www.slehc.org.

The publication awarded St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities its highest honor – Platinum – for Best Community Benefit Communication as part of the 2006 eHealthcare Leadership Awards. In all, some 220 healthcare organizations were honored for their web sites from more than 1,100 entries. One hundred individuals familiar with healthcare and the Internet judged the entries. Winners were recognized on November 6 during a special presentation by Mark Gothberg, editor of eHealthcare Strategy & Trends.

“We are excited to be honored in this way, and proud to be singled out among so many deserving nominees,” said Patricia Gail Bray, PhD, executive director, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities. “Our web site is an invaluable resource and signifies our mission to enhance and improve the health and well-being of communities and individuals.”

In its application, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities spotlighted its Project Safety Net, the nation’s first, interactive, bilingual and mappable web site, which is a link between the underserved in the Houston community and the clinics and organizations that offer healthcare to those individuals and families.

Visitors to www.projectsafetynet.net can access the site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to learn about safety net clinic locations, services, hours of operation, languages spoken and financial requirements. Interactive maps pinpoint healthcare service providers in neighborhoods, which provide a broad variety of health services and serve as a viable alternative to hospital emergency rooms.

The eHealthcare Leadership Awards program was developed and first presented seven years ago by eHealthcare Strategy & Trends, a leading Internet resource published by Health Care Communications of Rye, N.Y. A complete list of 2006 winners is available at www.strategichealthcare.com/awards/.
