Cathedral Health and Outreach Ministries
Espiritu de Salud/Spirit of Health Mobile Clinic

Description of the Organization
Espiritu de Salud (translation: Spirit of Health) Mobile Clinic is owned and operated by Cathedral Health and Outreach Ministries (CHOM), an organization created by Christ Church Cathedral.

Mission
The mission of Cathedral Health and Outreach Ministries is to provide free health and related services to Houston's poor, proactively meeting health needs of body, mind and spirit.

Espiritu de Salud Mobile Clinic carries out this mission by providing one of Houston's only no-cost sources of medical and mental health services for children and youth who have no medical insurance coverage or who cannot afford the associated co-pays of other clinics. Importantly, medical clients are referred as needed to the mental health staff, and all mental health clients are required to have full medical check-ups and evaluations. Every weekday and one evening each week, services are provided to children from low-income, primarily Hispanic families living in the city's densely populated East End; regular East End mobile clinic locations include four HISD elementary schools, Community Family Centers (where families also utilize a food bank program) and Willow Creek Apartments. Two nights a week from the parking lot of InterFaith Ministries of Greater Houston, Espiritu de Salud treats homeless young people who have historically gathered in Houston's Montrose area.
