SLEHC
allocates the majority of its research and grant dollars
to a limited number of initiatives. The founding board established
five priority areas:
- Children
- Congregational
Health Ministries
- Homeless
- Palliative
Care / End of Life
- Seniors
Other
needs are funded outside of the scope of the five priority
areas but still within the Charities overall mission. SLEHC
awards grants in two ways:
- multi-year
grants are given through announced competitive programs
called Request for Proposals (RFPs) and
-
to applicants seeking funding through unsolicited proposals
(Affirmation Grants).
SLEHC
has awarded over $46 million to non-profit service organizations
throughout the 57 counties of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.Focused
geographical areas have been: Acres Home, Brazoria County,
East End/Second Ward in Houston, Fort Bend, Jefferson County,
Southwest Houston and Waller County.
