Episcopalian Partnership to Advance Community Health
Partnering In February 1997, the Episcopal Diocese of Texas established the nonprofit corporation St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System to further the healing ministry of the Diocese. This reorganization resulted in the creation of the Charities in March 1997. The Charities’ faith-based mission fulfills public health needs of the area’s vulnerable populations. Since 1997, the Charities has awarded over $82 million through over 1,649 grants to 365 nonprofit health service programs throughout the 57 counties of the Diocese.
Together with the Health System and the Diocese, the Charities passionately promotes community health well beyond the traditional role of a hospital or health system. This focus on prevention and quality healthcare facilitated the development of innovative, proactive community initiatives that target disease prevention and advance health and well-being, body, mind and spirit among our most vulnerable and underserved populations.
